The Hyderabad Metro Rail's timings have been rescheduled after the lockdown extension by the Government of Telangana. The first train will now start at 7:00 AM IST while the last train will depart at 5:00 PM IST, before terminating at 6:00 PM IST.
Speaking to ANI, KVB Reddy, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited, said: "During the lockdown period, Hyderabad Metro Rail will start its first train from respective terminal stations at 7 am, while the last train will depart at 5 pm and end at the respective terminating stations by 6 pm."
"Passengers are requested to cooperate with security personnel and staff of Hyderabad Metro Rail in their efforts towards keeping their journey safe."
The Telangana Government had extended the lockdown till June 19. Though there are some relaxations for 12-hour period every day. As per the rules, public transports are permitted from 6 AM to 6 PM. A total of 40 people can attend a marriage function in the state. All public gatherings are prohibited while the public places are also closed in the state.
Telangana was one of the states where the COVD-19 situation had come under control in 2020/21 but the numbers reached an all-time high during the second wave. The single-day numbers are decreasing and the situation is slowly coming under control.
Talking of COVID-19 numbers, Telangana reported 1,813 new cases on Wednesday (June 9) The addition of 1,813 cases has taken the state's tally to 5,96,813. The number of recoveries was also on the high side - 1,801 people were cured and discharged from the hospitals. The latest numbers suggest that there are 24,301 active cases in Telangana. Hyderabad, which has been hit hard with COVID-19, recorded 179 new positive cases.
