Pulwama: Amid the ongoing pandemic crisis, a huge crowd gathered for a cricket match in Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir, in violation of COVID-19 protocols. After a video of the incident started doing rounds on social media, a case was registered against five people at Rajpora Police Station on Sunday.
The cricket match was played between Pulwama Gladers and Rajpora 11 at Musalmarg cricket ground Pulwama. A video showed how the massive crowd gathered, throwing social distancing and mask-wearing norms to the wind. The visuals were appalling as people have shown sheer negligence towards following COVID-19 protocols.
One of reason that has been attributed to this incident is lack of awareness in the Pulwama district of South Kashmir. Five people who organised the cricket match have been booked under relevant sections on Sunday. The cricketers of both teams have also been charged for violating the COVID-19 norms. An investigation into the matter is underway.
