How to Play 5-Card Draw Poker. If you have played any other form of poker, 5-card draw rules are similar in that the aim of the game is to make the best five-card poker hand.
In five-card draw, each player is dealt five cards and then has the opportunity to improve their hand through one draw. The best five-card poker hand wins the pot. A variation of five-card draw is "Jacks or Better" in which players must have at least a pair of jacks in order to open the betting, while other variations include the use of the joker as a partially wild card. The round of 5 Card Draw begins with all players getting dealt five cards, face down. The dealer will start from the first player to their left and deal one card to each player in the clockwise direction. Once all players are dealt five cards, the first round of betting will ensue.
In some games players are allowed to draw three cards unless they hold an Ace where they are allowed to draw 4-cards. Some casinos allow a 5-card draw but request the player initially draws only 4-cards and then receives his final card after all other players have completed their draw.
